Gasgoo Munich- The "2026 BAIC R&D Center 'AI · Leading the Future' Innovation Technology Forum & Forward-looking Technology Exhibition" wrapped up on March 26. The event was jointly hosted by BAIC R&D Center, Gasgoo, and the Beijing Society of Automotive Engineers.
Combining technical presentations with live demonstrations, the event zeroed in on AI-assisted driving, intelligent "third space" interiors, technological breakthroughs, and new material applications. It brought together 36 top-tier component suppliers and industry experts. By pairing the "AI · Leading the Future" forum with the technology exhibition, organizers established an efficient channel for connecting supply chain firms with OEMs. This offered a pragmatic and precise platform for deepening industry ties and expanding cooperation.

Opening Remarks
At the opening ceremony, Wang Ye, an expert in intelligent networking at BAIC R&D Center, delivered an address. He argued that the deep fusion of AI technology and the automotive industry is reshaping the competitive landscape and spawning new business models and application scenarios. From intelligent driving and cockpits to smart materials and services, AI is injecting fresh momentum into every stage—perception, decision-making, and execution. He also expressed a willingness to deepen cooperation with industry partners in an open spirit to achieve mutual success.

Wang Xianbin, partner and vice president of research at Gasgoo, offered a deep dive into key trends in the intelligent vehicle sector. He projected that by 2030, the market penetration of L2-level and above vehicles could top 90%. NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) features are expected to be present in over 24 million vehicles. Looking ahead, he noted that as AI evolves, the native boundaries of the automobile are eroding. Cars are increasingly integrating with ecosystems like smart peripherals, smart homes, and the low-altitude economy.

"AI · Leading the Future" Innovation Technology Forum
The "AI · Leading the Future" Innovation Technology Forum served as a platform for in-depth knowledge exchange. Guests from diverse business backgrounds shared insights on key AI technology trends, product innovation, and real-world applications.

Xu Zhigang, chief engineer for planning and control algorithms at BAIC R&D Center's Intelligent Driving Department, shared the latest practices and case studies on the evolution of intelligent driving technology. Wang Tengfei, senior manager of the Technical Architecture Department at BAIC Foton's Process and Digitalization Division, outlined the exploration of AI large models in the enterprise. Huang Dongnan, distinguished (chief) researcher at Chinalco and Chinalco Materials Application Research Institute Co., Ltd., demonstrated how AI empowers the intelligent design and application of automotive aluminum alloys. Zhang Fan, co-founder and CSO of Shenzhen Yigen, explored the application of artificial intelligence in cross-scale simulation.

Bai Qiang, deputy general manager of Alibaba Cloud's AI Automotive Industry Solutions Division, discussed how integrated cloud and AI solutions are accelerating the globalization and intelligent upgrade of automakers. Liu Xiaodong, director of the Doubao Cockpit Large Model Solution at Volcano Engine, elaborated on the trend of large model technology evolving from linguistic intelligence to physical intelligence. Zhang Lijun, senior director of strategy at Horizon Robotics, outlined the path to scalable development of high-order intelligent driving. Huang Huiwei, product marketing director at Axera, focused on "empowering intelligence with chips," introducing the latest practices in opening a new cycle for assisted driving and AI cockpits.

Forward-looking Technology Exhibition
During the Forward-looking Technology Exhibition, 36 suppliers showcased technologies and products related to AI-assisted driving, intelligent third spaces, technological breakthroughs, and new material applications. They engaged in in-depth exchanges with BAIC's R&D team.

In the AI-assisted driving sector, exhibits included autonomous driving simulation solutions and mobile mapping systems. The intelligent third space category featured core products like cockpit health management systems and domain controllers. Technological breakthroughs covered areas such as overseas connected vehicle cloud platforms and integrated smart equipment solutions for the automotive sector. New material applications included automotive-grade aluminum electrolytic capacitors, rivet nuts, and wire thread inserts.
Through this matchmaking event, BAIC established direct contact with numerous high-quality supply chain firms holding core technologies, expanding its options for future technology selection and supply chain development. Simultaneously, it provided a crucial opportunity for a group of high-potential SMEs to demonstrate their capabilities and break into the supply systems of mainstream automakers.
With that, the "AI · Leading the Future" Innovation Technology Forum and Forward-looking Technology Exhibition drew to a successful close. Looking ahead, Gasgoo will continue to partner with industry leaders like BAIC Group to organize high-quality technical exchange events. This will more efficiently connect OEMs with the supply chain to drive the collaborative development and practical application of specific technologies.
