Gasgoo Munich-Jingwei Hirain has officially secured a designation from a top global automaker for its high-performance 4D imaging radar, Gasgoo has learned. The technology will be integrated into multiple passenger vehicle brands set for launch in China, providing critical perception support for L3 conditional autonomous driving programs.

Securing this designation required passing multiple rounds of rigorous assessment. Jingwei Hirain reportedly passed comprehensive evaluations across technical proposals, safety performance, quality consistency, validation systems, manufacturing capability, and commercial readiness.
Technically, 4D imaging radar operates in the millimeter-wave band, distinguishing it from optics-dependent lidar. Unlike optical sensors, it is unaffected by lighting changes or adverse weather, such as rain, snow, and fog, offering robust all-weather detection capabilities.
Jingwei Hirain ’s design leverages a large array of transmit and receive channels to deliver high-resolution environmental perception. It enables long-range, high-precision target detection and delivers high-density data to the vehicle’s central computing platform—to ensure reliable L3 conditional autonomous driving in complex scenarios.
Under the agreement, Jingwei Hirain will manage the full lifecycle of the 4D imaging radar, spanning development, manufacturing, integration, validation, and quality assurance.
Jingwei Hirain has steadily advanced its presence in driver-assistance perception. Its portfolio now spans multiple levels from L2 to L3, while its customer base has expanded beyond China to reach global markets.
