【July 2026】China Passenger Vehicle Sales Analysis

Edited by Monika From Gasgoo

China's passenger vehicle market lost some momentum in July 2026 as the traditional sales lull and demand brought forward by the mid-year sales push weighed on monthly performance. Wholesale sales reached 2.27 million units, down 5.6% month on month and 0.9% year on year. Although the annual decline narrowed, domestic demand remained subdued.

Exports and electrification continued to provide the clearest sources of growth. Passenger vehicle exports climbed to a new monthly record of 920,000 units, surging 84.7% year on year, while NEV sales rose 22.5% to 1.452 million units. NEVs accounted for 64.0% of the market as the shift in China's powertrain mix continued.

Chinese brands further expanded their market share to 77.1%, SUVs maintained strong year-on-year growth, and luxury NEVs continued to outperform their non-NEV counterparts. Explore the full presentation for a closer look at July's market performance, export leaders, segment trends and changes in the competitive landscape.
