Gasgoo Munich- IM Motors built strong momentum in 2025, with full-year sales hitting 81,017 units—a record high. On the product front, the brand has established a "dual-hit" lineup with the LS6 and LS9. Technologically, it has erected a formidable moat around core innovations like the Stellar Super Range Extension system, Digital Chassis 3.0, IM AD 3.0, and mapless NOA. Against this backdrop, IM Motors' flagship mid-to-large EREV SUV—the IM LS8—officially kicked off pre-sales on March 26, 2026. Inheriting the LS9's flagship technology, the model quickly became a focal point in the 300,000-yuan "8-Series" SUV market upon its debut.
The LS8 targets the fiercely contested 250,000 to 350,000 yuan mid-to-large EREV SUV segment. This niche exceeded 300,000 units in volume in 2025 and is poised to challenge 400,000 units in 2026. As families demand upgrades in both intelligent tech and ride quality, the core customer base is shifting toward quality households seeking a blend of technology and comfort. These buyers prioritize the deep integration of handling and intelligence, as well as a unified expression of technology and luxury. Leveraging technology derived from the LS9 and SAIC Motor's full supply chain advantages, the LS8 is set to see its market penetration rise—especially if a subsequent single-motor version lowers the entry barrier.

Inside, the LS8 is powered by Qualcomm's flagship 8295 cockpit chip, paired with a 27.1-inch central screen and a 15.6-inch passenger entertainment display to deliver seamless computing power and visuals. Running on the IM AIOS smart cockpit system, the vehicle supports multi-screen interaction, full-scenario voice control, and facial recognition. It also debuts the Qwen large model to enable proactive, scenario-based services. Seats are wrapped in premium leather and feature heating, ventilation, and massage for both front and rear rows. A 25-speaker B&O audio system enriches the auditory experience, while the trunk offers flexible space capable of holding six 28-inch suitcases. A 12.3-liter smart in-car fridge and a panoramic sunroof further elevate the quality and ritual of family travel.
In the realm of assisted driving, the vehicle employs the IM AD system. Standard equipment includes one 520-line LiDAR, nine high-definition cameras, and an Nvidia DRIVE Thor chip, delivering 700 TOPS of computing power. This enables full-scenario intelligent navigation, covering City NCA, Highway NCA, and cross-floor memory parking. Its high-speed AEB function ensures stable braking stops at 100 km/h even in extreme conditions like snow or pitch darkness.

On the powertrain front, the LS8 is built on an 800V high-voltage platform and features the Stellar Super Range Extension system with a dedicated 1.5T range extender. The high-spec version adopts a dual-motor, four-wheel-drive layout with a combined output of 390 kW, pushing the 0-100 km/h acceleration into the 4-second bracket. It is equipped with a 65.9 kWh semi-solid-state battery pack supplied by SAIC CATL, offering a CLTC pure electric range of 430 kilometers and a total range of 1,605 kilometers. A 30% to 80% fast charge takes just 12 minutes, effectively eliminating range anxiety for long-distance travel.
Chassis-wise, the LS8 comes standard with Digital Chassis 3.0, featuring a bidirectional 24-degree four-wheel steering system, closed-type air suspension, and electronically controlled dampers. These components adjust suspension stiffness and height in real-time based on road conditions. The minimum turning radius is just 4.85 meters, significantly improving handling agility and parking convenience for a mid-to-large SUV. The steer-by-wire system delivers millisecond-level response and incorporates triple safety redundancy, ensuring the vehicle can safely pull over even at 120 km/h in the unlikely event of steering failure.
