Gasgoo.com (Shanghai March 3) - Geely announced earlier this week that it will build a new powertrain factory in Ningbo, Zhejiang, Xinhua reported. The 2.5 billion yuan ($398.34m) site will be the manufacturer's largest powertrain factory in China.
The Zhejiang-based Geely established an automobile and turbocharged engine production centers in the city in 2011. The new powertrain factory is a continuation of that project. The factory will boost the manufacturer's annual drivetrain production by one million units. The site is planned to begin production in December 2015.
Geely also has plans to establish a design and research center for the Geely and Volvo brands in Ningbo.
