Leadrive Starts Mass Production of Hybrid Dual Motor Controller EV0062

Edited by Yara From Gasgoo

Gasgoo Munich- Leadrive Technology confirmed on March 23 that it has officially commenced mass production of the EV0062 hybrid dual motor controller. Designed to integrate with Schaeffler's next-generation DHT assembly, the unit supports both PHEV and HEV powertrains and is set to power multiple hybrid models for a major European automaker. Production begins with the plug-in hybrid platform, covering several B-segment vehicles.

The EV0062 features Leadrive's proprietary double-sided water-cooled OreoPACK power module. By integrating double-sided cooled power modules and coreless current sensors, the design achieves a compact form factor that meets corporate EMC Class 5 standards. The project timeline progressed rapidly: preliminary research began in 2021, followed by formal launch in December 2023 and production approval in October 2024.

On the technical front, the OreoPACK module utilizes a transfer molding process that reduces volume to just one-ninth of traditional encapsulated modules. It withstands over 440,000 rapid power cycles across a wide temperature range of 65°C to 185°C. Measuring 200mm in length and 110mm in both width and height, the power module incorporates a dual-channel water-cooled aluminum capacitor that keeps core temperatures below 100°C even in 120°C ambient conditions. The platform-based design allows for more than 95% parts reuse between PHEV and HEV versions.

Validation proceeded swiftly, completing the full cycle from design to production verification in just 13 months. Loaded temperature cycling tests subjected the system to actual motor loads across 1,252 cycles from -40°C to 120°C, totaling 3,186 hours of operation. Vibration testing employed a four-axis composite bench, where samples endured temperature shocks and high-humidity exposure before load testing. EMC tests, conducted at an in-house lab with dual-axis loading capabilities, met the TL81000 Class 5 standard. The development process adhered to ASPICE protocols, achieving CL2 certification in January 2026.

On the manufacturing side, Leadrive has established a dedicated production line for the EV0062 at its Pinghu base. The facility uses helium leak detection with precision reaching 10⁻⁷ mbar·L/s. During the Safe Launch phase, every unit undergoes a two-hour high-temperature aging test under load at 95°C.
