Positioned as a global sports coupe, the Lafa5 is built on the LEAP 3.5 architecture with a wheelbase of 2,735 mm and offers two range options: 515 km and 605 km. Cao Li, Leapmotor's senior vice president, has noted that the model wasn't designed for a single market, but rather to balance demand across China, Europe, and South America. Over the long term, overseas sales are expected to account for half of the total.
Domestically, Leapmotor disclosed that the Lafa5 delivered 17,042 units within 35 days of launch — marking the brand's fastest-ever run to the 10,000-unit milestone for a single model.
On the international front, Leapmotor sold 67,000 vehicles overseas in 2025, securing the top spot among Chinese EV startups. By May 2026, cumulative exports had already surpassed 75,000 units — exceeding the full-year total for 2025. The company's joint venture with Stellantis, Leapmotor International, turned a profit in just its second year, with a network now spanning more than 40 countries and regions. The Lafa5 began rolling out across 26 European markets, including Germany, France, and the UK, in June 2026, followed by an expansion into Australia and New Zealand in August.
