On the evening of Jan. 7, Xiaomi Group founder and chairman Lei Jun hosted his second livestream of 2026. During the session, he refuted the circulating render of a supposed Xiaomi SU3.

Lei Jun said: "That's definitely fake. Our models are confidential, and there's no SU3 in the plan for now." He also addressed the SU7's two-year refresh cadence. In the fuel-car era, model cycles stretched to eight years; with competition among China's new-energy players intensifying, many now refresh annually. By his count, a two-year update for the SU7 is on the slower side. Given how well the SU7 is selling, any refresh needs to be steady — the aim is to get it right.
Earlier on Jan. 7, Xiaomi Auto officially announced the first refresh of its flagship sedan, the SU7. Preorders for the new-generation Xiaomi SU7 are now open, with a pre-sale price starting at CNY 229,900, and the model is expected to go on sale in April 2026.
The refresh brings comprehensive upgrades across design, features, performance and safety. Visually, while the car carries forward its classic design language, it adds a new paint option called "Capri Blue." It also gets newly designed 20-inch wheels.
On core performance, the new SU7 sees notable gains in power and range. It will be offered in Standard, Pro and Max trims. The Standard and Pro use a 752V silicon-carbide high-voltage architecture, while the Max steps up to an 897V system. As for range, the Pro's CLTC combined figure reaches up to 902 km; using the brand's own charging stations in normal temperatures, the Max can add up to 670 km of CLTC range in just 15 minutes.
Intelligence and safety are another highlight of the refresh. The new SU7 fits a full suite of assisted-driving hardware, with lidar, 4D millimeter-wave radar and up to 700 TOPS of compute standard across the lineup — the hardware foundation for its advanced driver-assistance features. For passive safety, all models include nine airbags (including newly added rear-row side airbags) and adopt an "embedded roll-cage" structure built from 2,200 MPa ultra-high-strength steel.
Inside, there's a new "Midnight Black" cabin colorway, alongside fresh designs for the dash, steering wheel and seats. For chassis control, the Pro and Max make a closed dual-chamber air-spring system and CDC variable-damping shock absorbers standard, aiming to lift driving feel.
