Gasgoo.com (Shanghai Dec 15) Half a month after released, Levin Hybrid was brought to market both in Beijing and Guangzhou of China on December 11 and gained orders beyond the expectation of GAC Toyota.

Compared with other alternative energy vehicles, Levin Hybrid has attracted much more attention from market, leading to a bunch of orders. Those consumers that haven’t made up their minds are just waiting for a lower price.

The orders of Levin Hybrid have surpassed 6,000 units as of December 9, which is almost equal to the annual sales of Tesla, the most popular electric vehicle worldwide, when it first appeared on Chinese market.

The decisive advantage of Levin Hybrid lies in its cost-effectiveness. When the hybrid vehicles are sold at the same price as that of fuel vehicles, they will become more accessible for people.

The limitation of government policy looms

The orders from Guangzhou where Levin Hybrid gained quota of plate lottery got to 1,600 units.

Both being exempted from lottery and government subsidy can best promote alternative energy vehicles. Statistics show that the sales of alternative energy vehicles in China amounted to 195,800 units with a yearly rise of 270% in the first eleven months. The annual sales of alternative energy vehicles in China may reach 195,800 or even 250,000 units. The future of Levin Hybrid and the green vehicle market seems promising.

However the competition among all kinds of alternative energy vehicles gets fiercer and fiercer. And the government subsidy is getting lower. Moreover, since the quota is limited, it will become more difficult even for consumers of alternative energy vehicles to get the lottery in some cities next year.

“The main reason that people prefer alternative energy vehicles lies in that they can walk through an “Easy Access” to get the plate lottery. Therefore, as it gets more and more difficult for consumers to get the lottery, the attraction of alternative energy vehicles may get slimmer, even though the products themselves have more advantage than fuel vehicles,” said an insider of auto industry in China.

But in order to accelerate the promotion of alternative energy vehicles, the government in Beijing has made some adjustment on the policy. According to the planning of Beijing’s government, the lottery quota of alternative energy vehicles will increase from 30,000 to 60,000 next year. Meanwhile, the lottery quota of common vehicles will be further compressed. The government in other cities in China will follow the suit of Beijing’s in the future.
