Liang Weibiao, Vice General Manager of GAC Motor, responded to GS8’s limited capacity problem resulted by the supply shortage of gearboxes. Official news came out at the beginning of June this year that GS8 would meet reduction in production afterwards, with the monthly production volume for GS8 being adjusted to 7,000 units from May to September.
Liang responded that, “We will take measures to cope with the problem, including controlling key parts’ supply. If we control the intellectual property right for some parts, we will respond quickly to solve such problems afterwards.”
He also said that, “Hangzhou factory will be put into production in the latter half of year, which will further erase the capacity bottleneck.” Currently, GAC Trumpchi has only one factory in Panyu with planned annual capacity of 350,000 units, and it will be expanded to 500,000 units in the future. Liang reveals that GAC Trumpchi’s capacity will reach 600,000 units in the next year.
