Gasgoo.com (Shanghai October 29) - Mercedes-Benz China has announced that it will begin recalling its E-Class executive cars in the country next month, qiche365.org.cn reported today, citing a notification sent to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. The recall, which will commence on November 28, will target 922 imported E200, E260 and E350 cars in mainland China. The cars in question were manufactured between early April and late June of this year.
The passenger side airbags in the E-Class cars (pictured) to be recalled may potentially be stitched incorrectly, in which case they would be of no use in event of an emergency. Mercedes-Benz China, via its authorized dealerships, will conduct free inspection and replacement of airbags of all affected cars. Unsold E-Classes will also be repaired before being put on the market. The manufacturer will begin contacting owners of affected vehicles next month to schedule appointment times.
