Located in Beijiao, Shunde, the facility will feature roughly 55,000 square meters of high-standard, temperature-controlled, and shock-resistant precision factory space, rolled out in two phases. Operations are slated to begin in 2027 for the first phase and 2030 for the second. Once fully operational, the site will add an annual capacity of 300,000 reducers, primarily supporting KUKA robots and other clients. It will serve sectors ranging from humanoid and industrial robots to automation equipment.
Welling Robotics Components launched its reducer project team back in 2019, backed by Midea's Blue-Orange Laboratory—the National Key Laboratory of High-End Heavy-Load Robots. Its product lineup spans harmonic reducers, RV reducers, servo motors, and humanoid joint modules. Some performance metrics now rank among the best globally, making the company one of the few in China capable of mass-producing these core components. Its products have already been integrated into the supply chains of top-tier international robot manufacturers.

The new base will bolster Welling's engineering capabilities in forward design and full-stack in-house development, while refining its end-to-end system spanning R&D, manufacturing, testing, and delivery. Once operational, the project will address capacity shortages for critical components like harmonic and RV reducers, raising the self-sufficiency rate for core parts. Leveraging Midea's existing strengths in precision manufacturing and mass production management, the facility is set to provide a more stable supply chain backbone for China's domestic robot industry. The Shunde district government noted that the project will further accelerate the clustering of the local robotics ecosystem.
