Gasgoo Munich- On October 15, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) officially released "High-Value Scenarios for AI Empowering New Industrialization," offering a reference "industry roadmap" for integrating artificial intelligence into modern manufacturing.
Developed jointly by research institutes and enterprises, the roadmap spans 20 specialized sectors—including petrochemicals, steel, automotive, and consumer electronics—and details over 1,000 specific scenarios. Crucially, these "AI+" applications are drawn directly from frontline production and manufacturing practices.
China is positioning manufacturing as the primary battlefield and application-driven development as the main thread, aiming to drive high-level AI empowerment across the new industrialization landscape.
Previously, the MIIT organized nearly 30 "deep dive" events focused on AI in industrialization, facilitating supply-demand matchmaking for over 5,000 companies. It also supported the creation of 18 national AI innovation application pilot zones, including Beijing and the Jinan-Qingdao cluster. Furthermore, the ministry has driven the development of nearly 200 key technical standards and established a 60 billion yuan national AI industrial investment fund.
The automotive sector stands out as one of the key focus areas within this "industry roadmap."
Under the "AI + Manufacturing" action plan jointly issued by eight ministries, the automotive sector is set to accelerate intelligent upgrades across the entire value chain. This includes building large automotive models to automatically generate body styling and interior layouts, while using real-time simulation to dynamically optimize structural strength and drag coefficients. The plan also calls for accelerating AI adoption in hardware configuration and parameter tuning, developing modular process islands, and creating flexible, reconfigurable production lines. Additionally, the industry will establish AI-driven quality control and predictive maintenance systems to enable online vehicle performance testing and full lifecycle quality traceability.
Artificial intelligence is rapidly permeating every link of the automotive chain—from R&D and manufacturing to services. The MIIT has stated it will deepen pilot programs for intelligent connected vehicle access and road usage, as well as "vehicle-road-cloud integration" applications. These efforts aim to drive the deep integration of AI and the automotive sector, empowering a digital and intelligent transformation across the entire industry chain.
Following the approval of global UN technical regulations on automated driving systems, led by China, "AI + Auto" is shifting from planning blueprints to replicable industrial practices. This evolution is transforming the automobile from a mere means of transport into a "smart terminal" and "mobile living space," with scenarios such as intelligent driving, smart cockpits, and smart manufacturing poised to accelerate their rollout.
