MIRA Ltd the global development partner to the automotive and defence sectors has appointed of Dr Geoffrey Davis as Business Development Director. As a main board director Dr Davis will provide new impetus to the company's sales and marketing strategy and will lead the business development teams in the UK and around the world.
Dr Davis joins MIRA's board on October 5th 2009. His appointment ensures the company's sales strategy is carried forward with clear direction, resolved win strategies and astute market positioning. Dr Davis will augment MIRA's traditionally strong UK customer base in automotive, commercial, defence, aerospace and advanced technology sectors, with firsthand knowledge of growing international
business.
Dr Davis enthused: "I am very much looking forward to working with MIRA's talented engineering and senior management teams in driving the business forward and developing a platform for sustainable growth across a range of select sectors and international markets."
Dr Davis has built a successful career, primarily in the automotive sector. He joins MIRA from Ricardo, a provider of engineering solutions and strategic consultancy to the world's automotive and transport industries; where, as a member of the UK senior management team, he has led business development activities both in the UK and oversees. While at Ricardo, he also specialised in supporting key areas of the business and developing sectors earmarked for growth.
This has resulted in continuous firsthand experience in various international markets, dealing with a breadth of engineering and strategic consultancy opportunities, all of which will be brought to bear on MIRA's international business development strategy.
Dr Davis' expertise is aligned to the vision of MIRA's CEO, Dr George Gillespie, who joined the company in January to spearhead growth into international markets.
Dr Gillespie welcomed the appointment: "In order to deliver the aggressive sales objectives we have set out in the strategy, we decided to augment the board with the kind of commercial acumen that Geoff has demonstrated. Dr Davis is an active member of the Management Board for the Automotive Division of the IMechE and gained his PhD researching automotive transmission error characteristics.
