DETROIT -- Ford Motor Co. will start selling the 2008 Mustang Bullitt in January. It will be introduced at next week’s Los Angeles auto show.
The special-edition Mustang carries a starting price of $31,075, including shipping. Ford plans to produce 7,700 Bullitts.
The car is available in both green and black exterior paint. Ford executives expect the vast majority of customers to choose green, to harken back to the original Bullitt featured in the 1968 Steve McQueen movie of the same name.
The Bullitt will be powered by a 4.6-liter V-8 engine producing 315 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. Ford also has specially tuned the Mustang’s chassis and suspension.
