New Chinese name for Mazda3 decided

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 27) - Changan Mazda has decided to change the Chinese name of the Mazda3 compact, the Beijing Times reported today. The joint venture has decided on the name Xingcheng, loosely translating to 'star rider'.

Changan Mazda is reportedly planning to first bring over the sedan version of the Mazda3 in October, afterwards where they plan to begin domestic production of the hatchback version. The two versions are very close to each other, with both being equipped with a 2.0L engine.
