The law was passed by the Iranian Parliament on 13 June 2007.

According to the Law, the guarantee period cannot be less than one year from the time of delivery of the car to the user or a performance equal to 30,000 kilometers (or whichever expires first). The warranty period for provision of spare parts and technical services shall be ten years from the date of actual delivery.

The law stipulates that, “During the guarantee period the supplier is obliged to remove all defects from the car at his own expense and compensate all damages inflicted upon the user and third parties resulting from the defects that are not covered by the related insurance”.

The legislation as reported by nourlaw.com also foresees that a new car (or its price upon agreement) must be reimbursed to the owner if sensitive defects are not removed after repair, or the car has become unusable for more than thirty days due to repairs.

At the same time, the supplier is bound to put all the commitments mentioned in the law in the related letter of guarantee to be delivered to the car owner.
