Gasgoo Munich- News broke on March 5 regarding a new battery R&D base in Jiading district. The Anting Town People's Government signed a cooperation agreement with Shanghai NIO Auto Co., Ltd. This was announced on the official Shanghai Jiading account.

Shanghai NIO Auto was established in May 2015. It is a comprehensive entity integrating strategic decision-making, R&D coordination, procurement, and quality control. It acts as NIO Group's global business management headquarters. It is also the global center for mass-production vehicle development. The company focuses on proprietary core technology R&D. It holds nearly 10,000 granted and pending patents. It has built a complete, independent R&D system. This spans batteries, electric drive systems, and intelligent systems. It also covers smart chassis domain controllers and battery swapping technology.
NIO has maintained a presence in Jiading for over a decade. The automaker has established the Anxiao Road, Taiyun Road, Anchi Road, and Innovation Port test centers. It also built the NIO Battery Test Center. These facilities create a comprehensive R&D and testing network across the district.
The newly established battery R&D base will focus on next-generation power battery technology. This project holds significant strategic value for the company's growth. It also benefits the region's development.
Beyond the new R&D base, NIO is expanding industry partnerships in the new energy sector. It recently signed an agreement with Bosch. The deal covers NIO's three major brands: NIO, ONVO, and firefly. It focuses on deep collaboration in core smart EV technologies. Key areas include by-wire chassis and battery management systems. These target braking control, steering systems, and drive systems. The scope also includes body electronics and perception modules.
