Gasgoo Munich- NIO Energy and the Changsha Economic and Technological Development Group marked the delivery of their first co-built battery swap stations in Changsha on Oct. 28, while kicking off a second batch. The initial 10 industrial swap stations were officially handed over, and the partners announced plans to build 20 more.
NIO said the partners will focus on deploying charging and swapping stations across key Hunan cities, transport hubs, and industrial parks. Beyond co-construction, the two sides are already working together on station operations, maintenance, and data management — with deeper coordination planned for smart energy management systems and virtual power plant integration to explore vehicle-to-grid applications.

Dongfang Shuzhi, a subsidiary of Changsha Economic and Technological Development Group, is a key energy platform in the Changsha economic zone, focusing on user-side energy investment, construction, and operations. The deal marks another step forward for NIO Energy's "co-build and share" model alongside local state-owned capital.
To date, NIO Energy has teamed up with over 40 local state-owned platforms and financial institutions across 25 provinces and regions, co-building more than 900 swap stations. NIO says this model — local state capital providing resources while NIO brings technology and operations — is accelerating the rollout of charging and swapping infrastructure into industrial parks and transport hubs.
NIO has poured more than 20 billion yuan into swapping and charging technology and infrastructure. As of Oct. 28, the automaker has built 9,715 charging and swapping stations nationwide — including 4,202 swap stations, 5,513 charging stations, and 31,831 chargers — giving it the industry's largest footprint for both swap stations and chargers. Cumulative swap services have topped 129 million, with total charging and swapping transactions exceeding 230 million.
