NIO Inc. scores 2-digit YoY, MoM growth in May deliveries

Gasgoo Munich- NIO Inc. delivered 37,705 vehicles in May 2026, marking a 62.3% surge from a year earlier and a 28.4% rise compared with April, according to the company's latest monthly sales results issued on June 1.

Of those, the company's flagship NIO brand accounted for 20,013 units of deliveries, surging 50.8% year-on-year. Deliveries under the ONVO brand reached 12,029 units, surging 91.5% from the same period last year and 124.8% from the previous month. Meanwhile, the Firefly brand contributed 5,663 deliveries, representing year-on-year growth of 53.9% and month-on-month growth of 13.7%.

During the first five months of 2026, NIO Inc. delivered a total of 150,526 vehicles, an increase of 68.7% compared with the same period last year. Cumulative deliveries since the company's inception have now reached 1,148,118 units.

May marked an intensive launch and delivery cycle for NIO's expanding product lineup. The company's technology-focused flagship SUV, the NIO ES9, officially entered the market and began deliveries on May 27. The ONVO L80 went on sale and was delivered starting May 15, while deliveries of the 2026 ONVO L90 commenced on May 9. NIO also unveiled the updated ONVO L60 at the 30th Guangdong-Hongkong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Auto Show on May 29, opening pre-sales simultaneously. Display vehicles have already started arriving at retail locations across China ahead of the model's official market launch on June 11.

The newly updated NIO ES8 reached its 110,000th-unit cumulative delivery milestone after 245 days on the market. According to the company, the model has remained the best-selling large SUV priced above 400,000 yuan across all powertrain types for five consecutive months, underscoring growing demand for premium three-row battery-electric SUVs.

ONVO's large-SUV lineup also gained traction. The ONVO L80 recorded 5,949-unit deliveries within just 15 days of launch, setting a new delivery-speed benchmark among large five-seat battery-electric SUVs in China. Together with the 2026 ONVO L90, the two models surpassed 10,000 units of combined deliveries, highlighting the accelerating shift toward electrification in China's large-SUV segment.

Meanwhile, Firefly has achieved its 60,000th-unit cumulative vehicle delivery and maintained its leadership position in the premium compact-car segment for a twelfth consecutive month.
