Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On January 6, at the roll-off ceremony for NIO's 1 millionth mass-produced vehicle, founder, chairman and CEO William Li announced the milestone car is the all-new NIO ES8. The vehicle will be donated to the Anhui Mozi Quantum Technology Foundation "to provide mobility support for scientists in the field of quantum technology!"
"1 million units is a new starting point. NIO is entering its third development phase with high-quality growth as the core goal," Li said. Going forward, NIO will keep investing decisively across 12 full-stack domains to secure its lead in technology and products; continue to build out infrastructure, aiming to exceed 10,000 charging and battery-swap stations each by 2030; deepen collaboration across its three brands to lift share in every segment and sustain 40%-50% annual growth; and focus on China while expanding globally in a steadier, more efficient way.

To date, NIO has invested a cumulative 65 billion yuan in technology R&D and 18 billion yuan in charging and battery-swap infrastructure. Nationwide, it has built 8,541 charging and swap stations, and has provided more than 96 million battery-swap services.
Meanwhile, NIO signed the Framework Agreement on Co-building a Collaborative Innovation Platform for Automotive Industry Development with Chery Automobile and JAC Group, and sealed a collaborative automotive-chip industrialization project with Lontium Semiconductor.
All four companies involved are Anhui-based. Lontium Semiconductor (Hefei) Co., Ltd., a leading Chinese designer of high-speed mixed-signal chips, was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in Hefei. Focused on intelligent video and high-speed interconnect chip R&D, it listed on Shanghai's STAR Market in 2023 and will kick off a Hong Kong IPO in 2025.
NIO said it will work with industry partners to drive technology sharing among Anhui companies, further promoting an open, collaborative and mutually beneficial industrial ecosystem in Anhui and Hefei.
