Nissan exports its first sedan CEDRIC to China in 1972. Today it has 3 facilities in China, two production JVs: Dongfeng Motor Company and Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile Co., Ltd, and one wholly owned company: Nissan (China) Investment Co., Ltd
Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. (DFL) was formally established on June 9, 2003 as the result of the strategic cooperation between Dong Feng Motor Corporation (DFM) and Nissan Motors Co. The company came into formal operations on July 1, 2003
DFL has registered capital valued at RMB16.7 billion (240 billion Yen or US$2 billion) with 50 percent equity per each party. Investments from DFM include existing assets from subsidiaries and equities in relevant enterprises while Nissan Motors Co. provided cash at equal value. The new company is registered in Wuhan and has approximately 70,000 employees.
DFL is China's first joint venture enterprise in motor vehicles with a complete series of trucks, buses, commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles. It also is the largest joint-venture project of its scale and the deepest and broadest scope in China's automotive industry. The Dongfeng brand is used for its commercial vehicles and the Nissan brand is used for passenger vehicles.

Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile Co., Ltd is a Sino-Janpanese automobile manufacturer with the approval of the state. The Nissan Automobile Business Corporation comprises 30% stock share, the Dongfeng Joint stock Co., Ltd. 51% share and Zhengzhou Lightweight Car 19% share, and Zhengzhou Nissan is the important manufacture base of Nissan in China.

The headquarter is located on Zhengzhou city. The workshop lies in the county seat of Zhongmou County with the coverage of 810,000 square meters, floor area of 280,000 square meters, overall working staff of 1900, 47 production flowing lines with an annual output capacity of 60,000 automobiles. It passed certification of ISO09001 Quality Certification System In 1999, certification of ISO09001-2000 Quality Certification System in 2002, and the state's CCC authentication for the first plot in year 2003. Leading products of Zhengzhou Nissan are Nissan's PICKUP and its transformed car, the multifunctional car like PALADIN etc, with over 60 varieties.
Nissan (China) Investment Co., Ltd was found in February 2004, in Beijing. It is a wholly owned company of Nissan in China.
Nissan (China) Investment Co., Ltd is involved in the mission of leveraging its public relationship with China, Nissan brand management, intellectual property protection etc. meanwhile it also play an important role in the China auto parts sourcing for Nissan and engaged in China auto market investigation, for example the trend of the model design in China. The sales volume of Nissan in China hit 180,000 in 2005, and is expected to top 500,000 in its financial year ---2008, as Nissan’s third largest market after Japan and U.S.A.
