Gasgoo Munich- On Oct. 27, OPmobility formally signed a strategic hydrogen industry pact with the government of Anting Town in Shanghai's Jiading District. Under the agreement, the two sides will team up on key fronts — notably the R&D and commercialization of Type IV hydrogen storage cylinders and systems, as well as the localized validation of hydrogen engineering. The goal: to accelerate the localized application and iterative innovation of hydrogen technology across China.

Serving as the core vehicle for this partnership, OPmobility's Hydrogen China Technology Center has finished construction and cleared local regulatory reviews. The site is now fully in the equipment installation and commissioning phase. The R&D hub is slated to officially begin operations by late 2026, positioned as a localized technical platform that integrates hydrogen engineering R&D, performance testing, validation, and technology transfer.
OPmobility New Energy set up operations in Shanghai in 2022 and has since been pushing full steam ahead on R&D and validation for Type IV hydrogen cylinders. This strategic pact with Anting Town signals a deepening of OPmobility's hydrogen footprint in China. Backed by the localized R&D, testing, and engineering support at the China Technology Center, the company looks to sharpen its edge in high-pressure hydrogen storage cylinders and systems.
Anting Town — the core zone of Shanghai's International Automobile City — boasts a robust automotive cluster, with a hydrogen ecosystem rapidly taking shape. OPmobility's move to double down on hydrogen R&D here is a vote of confidence in the region's industrial infrastructure and innovative environment. It will also inject fresh technological momentum into shoring up the local hydrogen supply chain.
