Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 12) - SAIC's passenger automobile sales for the first half of the year totaled 105,186 units, the Nanfang Daily reported today. The figure represents year-on-year growth of 16.8 percent.
The Roewe and MG own brands played an important role in helping boost the manufacturer's performance, with their combined sales for the six month time period totaling 20,131 units, up 16.4 percent from the previous year. Two key models credited with boosting SAIC's exceptional performance are the Roewe 350 (pictured above) and MG3 (pictured below). Total sales of the 350 for the first half of the year nearly reached 50,000 units, increasing 48.4 percent from the previous year. Its sales in the month of June alone broke the 10,000 mark, reaching 10,223 units. Sales of the MG3 for the six month time period, meanwhile, exceeded 23,000 units, equivalent to year-on-year growth of 25.3 percent.
In an official statement, SAIC stated that its R&D, production and aftermarket services are all on the same level as Sino-foreign joint ventures. The upcoming Roewe 550 will help the manufacturer make further strides over the latter half of the year.
