The collaboration marks ECARX's official entry into the LiDAR sector.
Under the agreement, the partners will jointly build the ORCA LiDAR platform. Its design will strictly adhere to international regulatory requirements and functional safety standards, with mass production slated to begin in 2028 at TPK's manufacturing base in Thailand. Leveraging TPK's established global manufacturing system, the duo aims to bolster supply chain resilience and large-scale delivery capabilities for international markets.
As ADAS and autonomous driving technologies accelerate, LiDAR is becoming a core sensor for enhancing environmental perception redundancy, safety, and complex scenario recognition. The new ORCA platform promises deep hardware-software integration and low-latency perception, purpose-built for next-generation ADAS and AI-driven autonomous systems. Targeting the global mass market, the platform is designed to flexibly empower automakers and robotaxi fleets, covering everything from high-end luxury passenger vehicles to large-scale smart mobility services.
Starting with joint system design, the partnership leverages the core strengths of both sides: ECARX contributes its automotive intelligence technology and sensor fusion expertise, driving global expansion through its deep ties with international automakers and robotaxi operators; TPK, meanwhile, will oversee optical design, engineering R&D, and the mass production of precision components. Through this strategic move, ECARX aims to reinforce its synergy across intelligent driving perception layers, computing platforms, and software algorithms — meeting the escalating autonomous driving demands of global automakers and robotaxi operators.
