The leadership shakeup comes as BAIC Group enters a critical phase of deep transformation. A long-time veteran within the system, Chang brings extensive experience in business management and operations, a move set to bolster the group's core management team. Currently, BAIC is pushing ahead with building its own brands and executing its new-energy strategy, while expanding its footprint in international and intelligent-vehicle sectors.
Analysts note that under the dual pressures of market competition and industrial transformation, BAIC Group must achieve breakthroughs in boosting profitability in its own-brand business, sharpening the competitiveness of its new-energy lineup, and maintaining steady growth in its joint ventures. Appointing Chang as general manager appears to be a strategic move to tackle these challenges at the management level. His mandate will cover daily operations and strategic execution, working alongside the chairman and Party secretary to drive overall business development.
