In a Weibo post, Sun addressed the community: "Greetings to all Avatr fans. I am Sun Baigong, and I am thrilled to join the Avatr family. Together with the team, I will remain committed to safeguarding user travel and bringing 'intelligent mobility' into everyday life. I look forward to this journey with you all."

Prior to this, media reports indicated that Sun would assume the role, overseeing core functions such as marketing, product lifecycle management, and the construction of the marketing system. He will report directly to the President of Avatr Technology.
Public records show Sun joined Huawei in 2005. During his tenure, he was among the few frontline leaders to span Huawei's three core business groups: carrier, enterprise BG, and consumer BG. He played a key role in the spin-off and global expansion of the Honor brand, amassing extensive experience in building brands from the ground up and steering overseas market strategies.
In late 2022, Li Auto initiated a strategy to "fully emulate Huawei," recruiting several executives with Huawei backgrounds—including Li Wenzhi, Yuan Chunfeng, and Sun Baigong—and implementing a rigid PBC performance system. At Li Auto, Sun served as head of the West Region before taking charge of the Go-to-Market (GTM) framework, where he handled strategy, channel planning, and product launch coordination.
Viewed holistically, Sun's career bridges full-chain operations in the tech sector and market management in the automotive industry, positioning him as a rare hybrid talent spanning both worlds.
Avatr has undergone several key leadership reshuffles recently. In its early days, Tan Benhong served as both Chairman and CEO, steering the brand's inception and initial growth. By December 2023, Zhu Huarong—then Party Secretary and Chairman of Changan Automobile—took on the role of Avatr Chairman, while Tan transitioned to a position at Changan. On September 19, 2024, Wang Hui, Vice President of Changan Automobile, officially succeeded Zhu as Chairman of Avatr Technology.
