Gasgoo Munich-the Second Autonomous Electric Mobility Forum (AEMOB) took place at the Qatar National Convention Centre in Doha from September 7 to 9. During the event, Pony.ai and Qatar’s national transport company Mowasalat unveiled phased achievements in their commercial Robotaxi operations and launched Doha’s first fully driverless Robotaxi experience program.

Pony.ai began public road testing in Doha in August 2025, completing the transition from testing to commercial operations in just four months. Currently, users can hail Robotaxi services through Mowasalat’s Karwa app. The operational area spans Doha’s Old Town, the core CBD, tourist landmarks, and shuttle routes to Hamad International Airport, connecting high-frequency scenarios such as daily commuting, business travel, and sightseeing. This marks Pony.ai’s first autonomous driving project to achieve large-scale commercial deployment overseas.
An official bulletin from Qatar’s Ministry of Transport in July revealed that passenger satisfaction and safety performance for the project exceeded expectations. With the technical and operational frameworks now ready for large-scale rollout, the next phase will focus on advancing fully driverless commercial Robotaxi operations in Doha.
The fully driverless test rides offered during the forum mark the first time Doha has hosted autonomous driving experiences without safety personnel. The test vehicles feature Pony.ai’s seventh-generation Robotaxi, designed for the global market with optimizations in both cost structure and operational efficiency—laying the core foundation for large-scale commercial deployment worldwide.
Mowasalat operates Qatar’s largest network of taxis, buses, and business vehicles, playing a critical role in the country’s transport strategy. Conducted under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport, the partnership aims to safely integrate autonomous technology into the public transport system, supporting the sustainable transport goals of the “Qatar National Vision 2030.”
The Doha project stands as a flagship achievement of Pony.ai’s global “Co-built Fleet” strategy.
