Shanghai, April 13 (Gasgoo.com) China's quality regulator said yesterday that German sports-car maker Porsche SE's China division will recall 640 vehicles of three Panamera models to fix a potential safety belt defect, Xinhua News reported.
The recall involves the Panamera S, Panamera 4S, and Panamera Turbo, and the 640 vehicles affected were produced before February 25, 2010, said the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ), citing a report it has received from Porsche China asking for the recall.
The quality administration said that a design defect with the seat-belt may prompt the failure of the fixation function in extreme cases, threatening the safety of the driver and passengers, Xinhua reported.

Porsche SE, which counts China as its third biggest market, aims to sell over 10,000 cars in the country this year, up from 9,090 units sold in 2009, as rising wealth makes luxury vehicles more affordable to Chinese buyers.
