The PSA Peugeot Citroën Group is today present in China with its Citroën and Peugeot brands through a joint venture established in 1992 with Dong Feng Motors and called DPCA (Dong Feng Peugeot Citroën Automobile).
Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Company Ltd. (DPCA) is a joint venture invested by DFM China, PSA France and other shareholders for car manufacture and sales. It was founded in May 1992 with its headquarters located in Wuhan,Hubei,China.
The designed capacity was to produce 300,000 cars and 400,000 motors, this capacity was designed at the beginning of the project yet constructed in two stages. In November 2000, the first stage of this car project for producing 150,000 vehicles and 200,000 motors was inspected and approved by the National Government.
The organization structure in DPCA is as follows: one Industrial Bloc (including the Technical Center), two Commercial Departments (Dongfeng-Peugeot and Dongfeng-Citroen), two manufacturing factories respectively in Wuhan City and Xiangfan City.
DPCA boasts the state of art production facilities, more than half of which are imported from abroad. All the equipment has reached the international standard in 1990’s.
The principal products in production and sale are “Fukang”, “Elysee”, “Picasso” and “Xsara” series under the band name of Dongfeng-Citroen. These cars are advanced in technology, economical in energy consumption, environment-friendly and reliable in quality, with these prominent features, they have covered the medium-class private car market with a price between 90,000 and 200,000 RMB, which is the priority choice for families.
At the coming of the new century, DFM and PSA Group, France have upgraded their cooperation to a higher level and widen the scope of their collaboration. An additional 1 billion RMB has been jointly invested to reach a total amount of 7 billion RMB as the registration capital of DPCA.
Within the coming years, DPCA is endeavoring to increase its annual output from 100,000 to 300,000 cars, it will quicken its pace to be bigger and stronger in the automobile industry.
Peugeot Citroën ( China ) Automotive Trade Co., Ltd In response to strong business growth in China, PSA Peugeot Citroën has created Peugeot Citroën China Automotive Trade Company Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary that will strengthen the Group’s presence in China, while contributing to the development of DPCA. By importing additional Peugeot and Citroën models not produced in China, the new subsidiary will also help to enhance the image of both marques.
