Gasgoo.com(Shanghai Nov 18)- Yesterday, China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine made the fourth risk warning announcement of this year that some of Pre-Collision Systems which is used to reduce collision with the front obstacle(short for PCS)of imported Lexus might be unsafe and induce rear-end accident.

Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. reported that this batch of cars equipped with PCS would mistake metal pavement seams for obstacles, giving the alarm or even triggering auxiliary braking or automatic braking. If the panic driver tries to brake under this circumstance, rear-end accident may happen, which is unsafe. According to statistics, the defective models involve ES350 of Lexus produced from June 22 of 2012 to May 19 of 2015, a total of 126 units.

At present, the company is investigating the cause of the defect and developing a recall plan. The General Administration commands that the company should figure out the cause of defect as soon as possible and adopt temporary measures to protect the owners’ personal and property safety before recall.

The General Administration also suggests that the owners should send their cars to the franchisers to shut down PCS for safety.
