Gasgoo Munich-Rosenberger signed an agreement on September 22 to launch projects for automotive high-speed connectors and high-end data center fiber optic assemblies in Changzhou’s High-tech Zone, according to Gasgoo.
The fresh capital will primarily expand data center fiber communication operations at the new smart factory in Changzhou, while also boosting local R&D and manufacturing capacity for automotive high-speed connectors.

The signing marks a shift in Rosenberger’s Changzhou strategy from establishing a manufacturing footprint to deep R&D localization. Its Asia-Pacific approach is evolving from "In China, for China" to "Designed in China, exported globally."
Rosenberger entered the optical communications sector in 1991, building over three decades of expertise in fiber connectivity. By prioritizing high-end data center fiber connectors and cable assemblies, the company is leveraging that technical depth to capitalize on current market trends.
As AI computing clusters expand rapidly, demand for data center fiber products keeps climbing. Consequently, the Changzhou base is set to take on a more critical role in R&D and manufacturing for this sector.
On the industrial support front, Changzhou’s High-tech Zone hosts a new energy vehicle and core components supply chain worth over 200 billion yuan, backed by more than 3,000 related companies. That ecosystem provides a solid foundation for Rosenberger’s local growth. Once operational, the new plant will supply high-end connector capabilities to this cluster.
Under the plan, the new smart factory will integrate nearly 70 years of technical heritage from the German headquarters with local expertise. The aim is to strengthen local R&D and foster collaboration across global technical teams.
Once the investment materializes, the facility will refine its portfolio of high-end products—including automotive high-speed connectors and data center fiber assemblies. It will also feature fully automated production lines, comprehensive labs, smart warehousing, and digital management systems.
The rollout schedule is brisk: Rosenberger settled in Changzhou High-tech Zone in January 2022, with the first phase launching that August. The smart factory groundbreaking follows in June 2025, with high-tech enterprise certification expected by December. By July 2026, the plant will be delivered, aiming for official production in the fourth quarter to support capacity and R&D needs.
