Data reveals that from January to March, SAIC Motor sold 973,000 vehicles wholesale, while retail sales climbed to 1,008,000. That represents a scale-up even as the broader industry faces headwinds. In March alone, the group moved 376,000 vehicles, securing a third consecutive monthly top spot with steady performance.
Breaking down the business segments, SAIC's growth drivers are both diverse and robust. Self-owned brands stole the spotlight, moving 657,000 units in the first quarter — a 9.3% year-on-year increase. Their share of total group sales rose to 67.6%, underscoring the continued success of the strategic shift. In the new energy sector, rising orders pushed quarterly sales to 270,000 units, as fresh product releases unleashed further momentum. Meanwhile, overseas markets emerged as a core growth engine, with sales jumping 48.3% to 325,000 units, highlighting the advantages of SAIC's global layout.
