SAIC Motor Sells 2.741 Million Units in First Eight Months

Gasgoo Munich-SAIC Motor released its latest sales report. In August, the group sold 357,000 vehicles, bringing cumulative sales for the first eight months to 2.741 million units, maintaining its position as China's largest automaker.

Driven by self-owned brands, new energy vehicles, and overseas operations, SAIC Motor reported strong interim results.

Self-owned brands have become a stabilizing force. In August, sales of these brands reached 273,000 units, up 18% year-on-year, marking the eighth consecutive month of growth.

From January to August, self-owned brands sold 1.999 million vehicles, a 14.2% increase, accounting for 72.9% of the group's total sales.

Specifically, SAIC Passenger Vehicle sold 760,000 units, up 51.3%; SAIC Maxus sold 183,000 units, up 31.3%; and SAIC-GM-Wuling sold 917,000 units.

In the new energy market, a dual-engine strategy is driving growth above the industry average. In August, SAIC's self-owned and joint-venture brands sold 191,000 NEVs, a rise of 47.1%.

Cumulative NEV sales for the first eight months reached 1.163 million units, a 30.2% increase surpassing the industry average.

Among self-owned brands, IM Motors sold 52,000 units, up 64%, supported by the launch of the new IM L6. SAIC Passenger Vehicle's NEV sales surged 214.5%, with strong orders for the Roewe D7 and MG 7. SAIC-GM-Wuling's NEV sales reached 504,000, with the Wuling Bingo recording four months of rising deliveries.

Regarding joint ventures, SAIC-GM's NEV sales grew 64%, while SAIC Volkswagen's ID.4 X and Audi's Q5 e-tron achieved strong performances.

Overseas business reached new levels as the global presence expanded. August overseas sales totaled 139,000 units, up 57.7%, bringing cumulative exports for January-August to 1.016 million, an increase of 52.9%.

The MG brand remained the best-selling Chinese brand in Europe, selling 241,000 units in the region over the first eight months, up 22.3%. It ranked among the top sellers in markets such as France, Ireland, and Italy.

Supported by overseas demand for HEV and BEV models and a proprietary fleet capable of transporting 600,000 vehicles annually, SAIC established a logistics foundation for global expansion.

Recently, major models including the Roewe D7, MG 7, the new IM L6, and the ID.3 launched. With competitive smart electric technology, the market response was positive. SAIC Motor continues to progress toward annual targets while delivering products and services to global users.
