SAIC sells over 1.76m vehicles from January to April

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 8) - China's largest automobile manufacturer, SAIC Group, has recently released its sales performance review for April, Reuters China reported today. According to the review, SAIC sold a total of 426,000 vehicles in April, representing year-on-year growth of 15.89 percent. The manufacturer's total vehicle sales for the first four months of the year totaled 1.76 million units, 16.76 percent more than the amount it sold from January to April of 2012.

Shanghai GM and Shanghai VW remained the manufacturer's strongest selling enterprises last month, selling 129,000 vehicles and 125,900 vehicles, respectively. The two JVs respective vehicle sales figures for the first four months of the year were 530,400 units and 534,800 units.

SAIC's has reported a net profit of 6.19 billion yuan ($999.32m) over the first three months of the year. The number represents year-on-year growth of 10.54 percent for the manufacturer. SAIC's stock finished at 15.53 yuan ($2.504) on Tuesday.
