Gasgoo Munich- Schaeffler and ROKAE signed a strategic partnership agreement, according to an April 10 statement from Schaeffler. Signed on April 7, it enables collaboration on R&D, supply, and deployment of core components like humanoid robot joint modules. The goal is to drive embodied intelligence growth and scale up humanoid robot applications.

The companies will combine their technology, channels, and scenario resources to focus on R&D for core components like joint modules. ROKAE provides full-stack robotics expertise, manufacturing capabilities, and industrial deployment experience. Schaeffler will leverage its strengths in high-performance sensors, harmonic drives, and precision manufacturing. Together, they aim to build industry-leading integrated joint modules for embodied intelligence robots, offering competitive solutions for the sector.
The collaboration covers component supply and full-machine deployment, creating an ecosystem spanning R&D, supply, and application. Leveraging its R&D and production systems, Schaeffler will serve as the core supplier for ROKAE' embodied intelligence joint modules. They will develop next-generation humanoid robot solutions tailored to diverse scenarios. ROKAE will drive automation upgrades across Schaeffler's smart manufacturing operations, boosting quality and efficiency.
Schaeffler is expanding into the humanoid robot sector. On February 27, 2024, the company established Schaeffler Embodied Intelligence Robot (Taicang) Co., Ltd. in Taicang, Suzhou. The entity focuses on developing core components and key subsystems for humanoid robots. Its portfolio includes rolling bearings, planetary roller screws, precision reducers, motors, and sensors. It also offers modular solutions for rotary drive, linear motion, thermal management, and battery management. The facility features a complete R&D and manufacturing ecosystem, including smart R&D centers, digital production lines, and data centers.
In March, Schaeffler signed a strategic partnership with Leju Robotics, marking its first embodied intelligence collaboration in China. That alliance focused on industrial applications, data training, and R&D to accelerate humanoid robot deployment. By partnering with ROKAE, Schaeffler is strengthening its position in China's embodied intelligence and humanoid robot landscape, reinforcing its advantages in core components and technical deployment.
