Gasgoo's Seeds column reports that on Jan. 8, Black Sesame Technologies reached a strategic investment agreement with SummitView Capital and industry partner Shanghai Hongqiao Town Investment Group. A syndicate led by SummitView Capital will provide a total of CNY 500 million in long-term strategic investment to Black Sesame Technologies, with the funds earmarked to back M&A and ecosystem-building in on-device AI and embodied intelligence.
The strategic stake by the lead investor and co-investors reflects recognition of Black Sesame Technologies' core technologies, product strengths, and industry strategy. One of the few companies worldwide able to supply high-compute intelligent-driving and on-device AI inference chips, Black Sesame's self-developed Huashan A2000 chip has cleared reviews by the U.S. Department of Commerce and Department of Defense, authorizing global sales and deployment — the only company in China to have obtained such approval. The clearance removes a key hurdle for the global rollout of its advanced intelligent-driving and embodied-intelligence businesses.
Under the plan, the investment will be dedicated to building out the on-device AI and embodied-intelligence value chain, using investments and acquisitions to integrate high-quality targets with core technologies and products — accelerating business expansion and global market penetration.
The new industrial capital, following Black Sesame Technologies' strategic acquisition of Yizhi Electronics and the resulting expansion of its on-device AI product lineup, will further cement its “intelligent vehicles + robots” dual-engine strategy. Backing from long-term industrial investors is expected to strengthen its ecosystem reach and positioning in core segments, supporting scalable growth ahead.
