Shanghai September 25 (Gasgoo.com) Skoda, the Czech subsidiary of German automaker Volkswagen Group, plans to import the Skoda Fabia RS and several other models, including the Skoda Yeti SUV, to China on the heels of the Skoda Octavia that has just been launched at the ongoing Chengdu Auto Show, The Beijing Times reported Saturday.

The Skoda Fabia RS is powered by Volkswagen's 1.4-litre twin-charged engine curently used in the new Volkswagen Polo GTi and Golf GT. The Fabia RS is the first in the Skoda range to make use of the 132 kW super & turbo-charged four-cylinder petrol engine which delivers maximum power of 132kW and peak torque of 250Nm.
Using Volkswagen's 7-speed DSG dual clutch gearbox, the Fabia RS needs only 7.3 seconds to accelerate from zero to 100 Kilometers per hour, and consumes 6.4L/100km.
Skoda is currently considering whether to introduce the Yeti SUV to China, said Fu Qiang, deputy manager of the Skoda arm of Shanghai Volkswagen, a joint venture between SAIC and Volkswagen. Skoda launched the trial run of its small SUV, the Yeti, in Russia's Lake Baikal last month. The Yeti SUV shares the same platform with Shanghai-VW Tiguan.
Skoda mainstream products, including the Octavia, Fabia and the Superb, have all entered into China and reported good sales increase. The Skoda brand has become an important pillar of Shanghai Volkswagen in which its market share has risen to 16%.
