Gasgoo Munich- Xiaomi Auto unveiled its SkyNomad smart, space-efficient SUV series on the evening of July 30. Leading the lineup is the flagship seven-seater, the SkyNomad N90 Max, which features a rear-facing all-solid-state digital LiDAR exclusively supplied by RoboSense. This marks the first time a mass-produced Xiaomi model has been equipped with a rear solid-state LiDAR.
Built on RoboSense's automotive-grade E platform, the newly mass-produced rear LiDAR utilizes an all-solid-state digital architecture. It balances a wide field of view with close-range ground detection and automotive-grade reliability, effectively extending the vehicle's perception capabilities from the front mid-to-long range to the rear near-field.

Acting as a complement to the roof-mounted primary LiDAR, this rear sensor focuses on enhancing 3D environmental perception at the rear and sides. In frequent scenarios—such as parking in garages, reversing on narrow roads, and exiting parking spaces—it generates 3D point cloud data on object distance, contours, and spatial position. By accurately identifying curbs, steps, overhead obstacles, and nearby pedestrians or vehicles, it works with cameras and ultrasonic sensors to fill the coverage gaps left by traditional front-facing perception systems.
The E platform is the industry's first mass-produced automotive-grade platform for all-solid-state digital LiDARs. It integrates RoboSense's proprietary SPAD-SoC and 2D VCSEL chips, delivering core advantages like an ultra-wide field of view, high precision, high reliability, and a compact form factor.
As of April 2026, cumulative deliveries of E platform products have surpassed 300,000 units, setting a new industry record for all-solid-state digital LiDAR shipments.
Historically, multi-LiDAR setups and near-field blind-spot detection were largely reserved for Level 4 autonomous vehicles like robotaxis. Now, as all-solid-state LiDAR technology matures in terms of size, reliability, integration, and mass production, these configurations are migrating to Level 2 mass-market passenger cars. The layouts are becoming increasingly refined, tailored to the specific dimensions, functions, and usage scenarios of different vehicle models.
