Smart EV 2026 | Volcengine Vice President Yang Liwei: AI Is Shifting From Auxiliary to Main Role, Enterprises Should Build "Knowledge Brain" and Execution Manual

Gasgoo Munich-Gasgoo reported on April 12 that at the Smart EV Development High-Level Forum (2026) — specifically the AI+Auto Forum — Volcengine Vice President Yang Liwei spoke. He said the integration of AI and automotive technology resembles a marathon. This marathon has already cleared its starting blocks. By the end of March, daily token usage for the Doubao large model had surged past 120 trillion. This represents a 1,000-fold increase since its debut, capturing the vast majority of the Chinese market.

Yang noted that AI interaction is shifting away from the traditional, human-centric chatbot model toward a new paradigm where AI takes the lead. In this framework, AI handles planning and execution while humans step back into control and supervision roles. The shift is already visible in areas like full-duplex voice in smart cockpits, intelligent customer service, automated ad placement, and code generation. He emphasized that a complete Agent architecture requires setting goals, building a knowledge base, mastering tool usage, and forming a closed loop of execution results.

To drive enterprise AI adoption, Yang argued that companies should prioritize building two key assets. These include an "AI Knowledge Brain" to consolidate business rules, system interfaces, and process transformations. Also required is an "AI Execution Manual" that encapsulates various APIs through Skills or MCP. Beyond that, optimizing human-AI collaboration efficiency and management systems is essential. He revealed that during the Beijing Auto Show, Volcengine will unveil a new AI-centric human-machine interaction solution for vehicles. This pushes the evolution toward interactions that are more proactive and automated.
