Gasgoo.com (Shanghai Dec 22) Late last month, Lincoln opened its 24th and 25th Lincoln Center in China at the same time, completing its expansion plan of opening 25 Lincoln Centers by the end of 2015 one month in advance.
Targeting at SUV segment turns out to be a right decision Lincoln has made, which helps him survive the situation where the development of the whole auto market in China has slowed down and the sales of luxury brands have shrank to single digits.
Data from China Passenger Cars Association show that the sales of Lincoln in China reached 8,170 units in the first ten months including more than 5,000 units of MKZ, one of major models of SUV.
MKX, a medium SUV, was introduced into China in October and the new Nivagator, a flagship model of SUV was released at the Guangzhou auto show at the end of November. So far, Lincoln has layout four new models during more than one year.
Though having made good performance in sales, Lincoln announced to give priority to the brand construction rather than stimulating sales.
"We do not emphasize too much on sales at first but hope that Chinese franchisers can implement our new brand concept and provide Chinese consumers with a new luxury experience customized for them,” declared Pang Libo, CEO of Lincoln in China.
