Shanghai, July 14 (Gasgoo.com) Yulon Motor, the largest automaker in Taiwan, will introduce its own-brand Luxgen sedan model to mainland China for local production next year. The car will be put into production in the Taiwan automaker's joint venture in Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou city, Zhejiang province, the company's executives said recently.

At present, Yulon is waiting for approval of the Luxgen production plan from the mainland government.

Luxgen MPV Model

The Luxgen is Yulon's self-developed brand, with the MPV model launched first, which is said to be based on the previous Renault Espace platform and is powered by a self-developed 2.2-liter/200 hp four-cylinder turbocharged engine. The Luxgen has won kudos from its drivers for some luxury and genius elements.

In March 2008, Yulon Motor and Zhejiang Zhongyu Holding Group established a 50-50 joint venture, the Luxgen Motor (Zhejiang), in China's eastern Zhejiang province. The joint venture, with a designed capacity of 240,000 units, cost a total investment of 4.65 billion yuan ($664 million).

In addition, a 264-acre-facility, which is capable of making 120,000 vehicles and 200,000 engines per year, was built under the first phase of the project, costing an investment of over 3 billion yuan. Reportedly, popular models like SUV and MPV are currently manufactured in the facility.
