Gasgoo Munich- On Feb. 12, Gu Yukun, CEO of Great Wall Motor's Tank brand, said in a recent Weibo video that the company will roll out a "transcendent" new product after the Lunar New Year. The vehicle is poised to become a pioneering force in the history of Chinese luxury off-roaders.

Reading between the lines of Gu's emphasis on "new" and "luxury," industry watchers speculate the upcoming model will be a large or mid-size SUV. It is expected to feature advanced driver-assistance systems and upgraded off-road capabilities.
As 2026 begins, Great Wall Motor is accelerating its product rollout across its portfolio. On Jan. 28, Chairman Wei Jianjun officially unveiled the V9X, a new flagship SUV under the Wey brand. Positioned as an AI-powered luxury six-seater, the V9X is built on "Guiyuan S"—the premium technology sequence of Great Wall's "Guiyuan" platform—packing the automaker's most cutting-edge innovations.
Earlier this month, details of the Wey V9X emerged as it appeared in filings with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Official teaser images reveal a fresh design language: the front fascia features a full-width LED daytime running light strip, while the Wey floating logo is illuminated. Flanking the main headlights are two vertical strips below—combining turn signals with blue indicators that signal when autonomous driving is active.
From the side, the vehicle's profile is sleek and elongated, with rounded, elegant shoulder lines that project an air of stable luxury. The rear design follows the trend of modern large SUVs with distinct layering. It sports a full-width taillight incorporating family styling cues to boost recognition, along with the same blue indicators on the flanks to display the status of driver-assistance features.
According to MIIT filings, the Wey V9X offers a choice between "V9X" or "Yuanshan" badging. It measures 5,299 mm in length, 2,025 mm in width, and 1,825 mm in height, with a 3,150 mm wheelbase. Designed to carry six passengers, it is powered by a Great Wall Motor-made 175-series engine (1,998 ml displacement). Curb weight ranges from 2,740 kg to 2,930 kg depending on configuration. The vehicle uses a 53.6 kWh or 77.7 kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese lithium battery, delivering a pure electric range of 240 km or 363 km, with fuel consumption rated at 6.20 L/100 km.
