Tata Motors May sales down 13% to 40,196 units

Tata Motors has reported that its total sales in May 2009 decreased 13% to 40,196 units, compared to 46,339 units in May 2008.

In May 2009, the company's domestic sales decreased 11% to 38,392 units, compared to 42,916 units in May 2008.

Commercial vehicle sales in May 2009 in the domestic market were 23,004 units, a decrease of 3%, compared to 23,682 vehicles sold in May 2008.

In the domestic market, the passenger vehicle business has reported a total sale and distribution offtake of 16,563 units (15,388 Tata + 1,175 Fiat) in May 2009, compared to 19,685 units (19,234 Tata + 451 Fiat) in May 2008.

Exports decreased 47% to 1,804 units, compared to 3,423 units in May 2008.
