Gasgoo Munich- On July 30, Tesla has officially announced the rollout of its 10 millionth pure electric vehicle globally. This milestone makes Tesla the first automaker in the world to surpass the 10 million unit mark for BEV production.

Counting from the first Roadster prototype in 2006, it has taken Tesla 20 years to bridge the gap from zero to 10 million units. Notably, the 9 millionth vehicle rolled off the line at the Shanghai Gigafactory on December 30, 2025. The leap from 9 million to 10 million took just seven months, signaling that its production ramp-up is still accelerating.
According to Tesla's second-quarter 2026 earnings report, global BEV production reached 451,758 units for the quarter, with deliveries climbing to 480,126. That represents a roughly 10% year-over-year increase in production and a 25% jump in deliveries. The Model 3 and Model Y remain the backbone of the lineup, accounting for more than 97% of quarterly volume.
The Shanghai Gigafactory has played a pivotal role in this ascent. By December 2025, the plant had produced its 4 millionth vehicle, contributing nearly half of Tesla's global EV output at the time. The factory currently operates with a cycle time of just over 30 seconds per vehicle, while its parts localization rate exceeds 95%.
Tesla's cumulative production milestones now read as follows: 1 million in March 2020, 5 million in September 2023, 9 million in December 2025, and 10 million in July 2026. The climb from 1 million to 5 million took roughly 3.5 years, while the leap from 5 million to 10 million required only about 2.5 years. This 10-million-unit mark further solidifies Tesla's economies of scale in the global BEV market.
