Gasgoo Munich- On May 7, Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory delivered more than 79,000 vehicles in April, a 36% year-on-year surge that underscores the plant's robust growth momentum, according to the latest data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

Meanwhile, the six-seat Model Y L SUV produced at the Shanghai plant has begun deliveries in multiple markets across the Asia-Pacific region.
Tesla's global deliveries topped 358,000 units in the first quarter of 2026, bringing its total global owner count past the 9 million mark.
Regionally, the Model Y secured the top spot for passenger car sales in China this March. Growth in the Asia-Pacific region was particularly pronounced: South Korea imported 13,000 units from the Shanghai factory in April, setting a new monthly high and skyrocketing 1,050% from a year earlier, while Australia saw sales climb 145%.
The Model Y L, tailored for Asia-Pacific markets, has now launched in Japan, South Korea, Australia, Thailand, and Hong Kong and Macau. Europe is also showing an upward trend, with Sweden and Denmark recording year-on-year registration increases of 111% and 102% respectively in April. France, the UK, and Ireland likewise posted double-digit to triple-digit gains.
