Gasgoo Munich-On March 24, XPENG Motors released interior images of the 2026 MONA M03. Following exterior leaks a day earlier, the announcement highlights the direction of the comprehensive mid-cycle refresh.
The new model adds Roland Purple and Avocado Green to the exterior color options, optimizes interior practicality and intelligence, and significantly extends range. The launch is scheduled for spring 2026.
To understand these upgrades, one must consider the MONA M03's significance for XPENG. It is not just a volume model in the lineup; it served as a crucial support during a critical phase of the company's development.
The 2026 model year update represents both a continuation of this success and a strategic move to consolidate XPENG's market position.
New Colors, Chips, and Extended Range
Changes to the 2026 XPENG MONA M03 are not radical. Instead, they are precise optimizations based on the current model's success, reflecting XPENG's response to market feedback.
The exterior retains the coupe styling that received acclaim, maintaining the overall design language. The major change is in color options: the addition of the distinct "Roland Purple" and the fresh "Avocado Green" appeals to younger buyers and expands visual choices.

Details have been adjusted. The front bumper has been modified and, paired with the signature T-shaped headlights, enhances the sporty appearance. New wheel designs balance aerodynamic efficiency with aesthetics.
The rear bumper has also been redesigned with a glossy black surround. Black trim added beneath the taillights refines the visual effect, making the vehicle appear more sophisticated and dynamic.
Inside, the cabin maintains a minimalist aesthetic but prioritizes practical functionality in the front row. The front of the center console has been redesigned: wireless charging is now positioned forward, while dual cupholders have been moved back for better access. The space beneath the armrest features a hollow design to expand storage capacity.
The vehicle also features a new steering wheel design and introduces new interior color schemes.

Intelligence is the focus of this upgrade. The 2026 MONA M03 will run XPENG's latest AI Tianji 5.7.0 system for smoother interaction. Regarding hardware, the new model comes standard with the high-performance Qualcomm 8295 chip, providing computing power for the cockpit.
For driver assistance, the vehicle is equipped with dual Orin-X chips. This enables navigation-assisted driving on national highways, urban expressways, and select city roads, significantly expanding the availability of assisted driving features.
The powertrain upgrade is another highlight. Reports indicate the battery supplier switched from FinDreams to EVE Energy, offering LFP battery packs in three capacities: 51.8 kWh, 61.6 kWh, and 62.2 kWh. Consequently, the maximum range (CLTC) increases to 640 kilometers, a 20-kilometer increase over the current model.
Additionally, the new model features 3C fast-charging technology, boosting charging speeds by approximately 40%. It can recover about 200 kilometers of range in 15 minutes, effectively mitigating range anxiety. Although motor specifications have not been fully released, the battery and charging upgrades promise a significant improvement in overall power efficiency.
From Survival Crisis to Market Pillar
If the 2026 update is a step forward, the launch and rise of the MONA M03 was a turning point in XPENG's history.
Before the M03 arrived, XPENG endured a difficult period. With a gap in its product lineup and slumping sales, market confidence declined, and the company was widely seen as hovering on the "verge of collapse."
Against this backdrop, the MONA M03—positioned as a "smart pure electric hatchback coupe"—entered the market in 2024, capturing share in the A-class pure electric sedan segment.
It quickly gained attention. Supported by precise targeting of younger demographics, class-leading intelligence, striking design, and competitive pricing, the M03 was an immediate success.
Orders and deliveries surged, soon topping 10,000 units a month. It became a sales pillar for XPENG, with its share of total deliveries once exceeding 50%—accounting for half of the company's sales.

The success of the MONA M03 holds significant implications for XPENG:
As models like the G6 and G9 faced fierce competition, the M03's stable, high volume provided a solid market foundation and cash flow support, ensuring smooth operations.
The M03 successfully extended XPENG's reach into the 100,000 to 150,000 yuan mass market. It attracted young first-time buyers, vastly expanding the user base and revitalizing the brand.
For investors and the internal team, the M03's success demonstrated that XPENG's product definition and market insight remained sharp. It reversed pessimistic expectations, rebuilt market confidence, and resolved the company's crisis of public confidence and operations.
Today, the 2026 MONA M03 retains its core competitiveness while optimizing details based on user feedback. It improves key metrics like intelligent driving, range, and charging. Its arrival is not just about strengthening a proven model; it signals that XPENG intends to maintain its position in the A-class electric sedan market.
From rescue to evolution, the MONA M03 story has become a pivotal turning point and a model for success in XPENG's history.
