Toyota Motors New Zealand has signed a contract with the State Government of San Francisco, as per which Toyota would be providing the Government’s fleet with Prius and Hybrid Camry plug-in vehicles. The contract includes 2 more motor companies which along with Toyota would be providing the Government with 18,000 vehicles.
Steve Prangnell, the General Manager of Sales and Operations in Toyota and the Company’s Spokesman, commented on the contract saying that what made Toyota among the Government’s selections for the fleet is that Toyota provides solutions for warranty costs, fuel consumption, emissions and resale value, and all for low costs.
He added, “Through the long-lasting relationship with Government departments, Toyota has developed real insights into the specialist requirements. We can provide a vehicle for every need, including reliable famed workhorses such as the Corolla and Hilux”.
The two plug-in hybrid vehicles introduced by Toyota would arrive at San Francisco by Saturday, to join the fleet immediately as they arrive, with already 150 of them having been located around North and South California. The vehicles are able to travel on electric power for around 13 miles.
Mayor Gavin Newsom reported that the contract would be valid until the year 2012, with Toyota supplying the Government with minibuses and light vehicles.
