Gasgoo Munich- Xiaomi EV has recently been involved in two separate safety-related incidents. According to an official statement released by a company spokesperson on January 20, no casualties were reported in either case, and relevant investigations are currently underway.
The first incident occurred on January 19 in Haikou, Hainan. At 5:30 p.m. that day, a Xiaomi vehicle was parked inside a repair shop with no occupants inside. Monitoring data indicates that the front seats moved at 5:34 p.m., followed by a fire breaking out roughly three minutes later. Xiaomi noted that power battery parameters appeared normal before the vehicle’s data feed went offline. Firefighters subsequently extinguished the blaze at the scene.
Also on that day, a Xiaomi SU7 was involved in a separate accident on a highway in Weishi County, Kaifeng, Henan. Preliminary information suggests that around 4:03 p.m., the vehicle was traveling under manual control when a truck on the right made a dangerous lane change. Compounded by slippery, snow-covered roads, the driver was unable to avoid the collision. The other vehicle fled the scene following the crash.
The Xiaomi SU7 involved in the crash sustained front-end damage. The driver pulled over to the emergency lane, and all occupants evacuated safely. Before the data stream cut off at 4:14 p.m., both the power battery and low-voltage battery were reported to be functioning normally. A fire subsequently broke out at the front of the vehicle, which was extinguished by responding firefighters.
Xiaomi stated that it is fully cooperating with fire and traffic authorities in the investigation and is assisting users with follow-up matters. The company urged the public to rely on facts and refrain from spreading unverified information.
Data logs and battery status from both incidents are expected to serve as critical evidence for the technical analysis ahead. Industry attention is now focused on safety monitoring and emergency response mechanisms for electric vehicles in specific driving scenarios.
