UQI Autonomous Logistics Vehicle Completes PVT Rollout at Foxconn Zhengzhou Factory

Edited by Betty From Gasgoo

Gasgoo Munich- UQI, the smart logistics subsidiary of UBTECH, has rolled out the first batch of Chitu α autonomous logistics vehicles from the Foxconn Zhengzhou New Energy Vehicle R&D Center. The move marks a critical validation of the manufacturing system before the model enters mass production.

The PVT phase focuses on verifying manufacturing consistency, process stability, and quality traceability under mass production conditions. Operating within Foxconn's automotive-grade smart manufacturing system, the production achieved a closed loop spanning assembly, inspection, and delivery — laying the groundwork for the upcoming production ramp-up and volume shipments.

During manufacturing, Foxconn implemented process controls and data logging for critical steps based on automotive-grade requirements, integrating these with inspections to build a traceable management system. This setup helps maintain consistency during large-scale manufacturing while allowing for rapid identification of production anomalies. The resulting data will be used directly to refine process parameters and production standards.

For quality inspection, the vehicles moved through stations for four-wheel alignment, side-slip testing, autonomous sensor calibration, and rain tests. These checks cover core metrics such as chassis geometric precision, driving stability, autonomous system calibration, and vehicle sealing — creating a final quality verification loop before the units leave the factory.

Notably, UQI introduced embodied intelligence to the production floor, establishing a multi-agent collaborative "autonomous manufacturing loop." Orchestrated by the UPilot robot operating system, UBTECH's industrial humanoid robot Walker S2 worked alongside the Wali U1500 lifting robot to automate SPS material feeding on the interior line. This fully autonomous transfer of materials from warehousing to assembly stations enhanced the stability and flexibility of the logistics chain.

For autonomous logistics vehicles designed for long-term operation on open urban roads, reliability depends as much on rigorous manufacturing and quality control as it does on R&D. By leveraging Foxconn's automotive-grade process management and system calibration, the Chitu α has established quality benchmarks comparable to commercial vehicles at every stage.

With the PVT rollout complete, the Chitu α is now entering the mass production ramp-up phase. UQI plans to accelerate scenario-based validation and data accumulation to drive the large-scale deployment of autonomous logistics capacity on open urban roads.
